Peaches are Just Peachy
The summer may be drawing to a close but peaches are still in abundance. Ripe, juicy and naturally sweet, I equate biting into a peach to soaking up sunshine. Not surprising considering peaches do contain Vitamin C. Vitamin C is required to synthesize connective tissue in the body.
Peaches are rich in other nutrients that your body needs like niacin, thiamine, calcium, potassium, iron and beta carotene. Beta Carotene, an antioxidant that converts to Vitamin A, which is essential for healthy hearts and eyes.
Peaches can be stored in the refrigerator but are best eaten at room temperature to appreciate their flavor fully. For a refreshing summer treat, a peach smoothie can really beat the heat. Cooked peaches do lose some of their nutrients but can still be a healthy sweet treat especially in the winter when we're all looking for some sunshine. :)
